Real Estate & Lending News & Resource-links Page

motorcycle chain links for real estate news & information

The Truth About Mortgage  Real estate & lending news...not all positive...great photos, fresh concise content.  One of my favorites.

Mortgage Implode-o-Meter  Controversial link rich site that lists, almost too gleefully, recent mortgage company closures.  Great forum used by mortgage professionals. A, maybe too clear, window into the world of mortgage lenders.

Sacramento Bee Home Front Local Newspaper Blog with topical, local, material

Sacramento Landing Blogspot  Sacramento Area housing downturn oriented blog with good links.  Check out the Water Cooler section for personal stories & opinions.

Bankrate.com Comprehensive personal finance, rates & analysis. Has a good roundup of mortgage rate predictions. Keep your pop up blocker on overdrive

CityData-Sacramento Forum  Folksy forum & information about Sacramento.   Some really good and some very inaccurate advice about the Sacramento area locations. There are some, unfortunately, blatantly racist comments.   As one poster said, "Don't believe everything you read in here".  Still, this site is worth your time. I really like how clean the site is, without sponsored links & advertisements.  Check out posts by "CityGirl72", "wburg" & "zen_klown".  Their comments & advice are pretty spot on.

What is your Flood Risk?  FEMA tool for evaluating flood risk, by address.

CNNMoney.com Real Estate  Lots of recent news, good topical articles. Too many sponsored links.

Real Estate Journal by the Wall Street Journal.

Sacramento Craigslist Housing Forum  More entertaining than useful, not tightly moderated.  A good window into the stories, concerns & opinions of a wide variety of people on housing, mortgages, rentals.

Sacramento Craigslist Real Estate for Sale  Watch out for scammers & overpriced properties that could not be sold via MLS.....Maybe you can find some gold here, I never have.

Sites with Real Estate price statistics & trends

Housing Tracker.net  Easy to read graph of asking prices & inventory of houses for sale derived from MLS listings.

DataQuick  Real Estate Statistics.  I use this information frequently in my appraisals.

Sacramento Real Estate Statistics.  Great blog with weekly updated charts.  Very useful, good relevant links too.

Trulia  Search by zip code & micro-neighborhood for the most localized data.  Be careful that the data set is large enough to be meaningful.  Click the "More market Trends" box for more info.

SacRealtor.org Sacramento Association of Realtors statistics.  Good for older data back to 2002. The press releases provide a good summary of the general area, but not specific neighborhoods.  I use the zip code reports frequently as they are more localized.
